There are three types of immigration status in New Zealand: Resident (PR), Permanent Resident (IRRV), and citizenship.

PR(Permanent Resident Visa) : Resident, also known as PRV, resident visa, resident status, green card。If you submit an immigration application to Immigration New Zealand for the first time and it is successfully approved, you will get a Permanent Resident Visa, which is valid for 2 years。Enjoy the rights and obligations of New Zealand residents and have the right to return to New Zealand multiple times during the validity of the visa。Under normal circumstances, after getting PR, you will have to live in New Zealand for 184 days a year in these two years, and then apply for permanent residents, and this residence time requirement is popularly known as "immigration supervision".。If you do not meet the requirements of the Immigration Department, you will either have to renew your PR before the expiration date (there are conditions for renewal), or it will mean that you will lose your New Zealand resident status。PR status limits the application of some benefits, but children's free education, basic health care waivers are available。

IRRV(Indefinite Returning Resident Visa) : Permanent resident, also known as permanent resident status, permanent green card, permanent resident visa, permanent return visa。If you stay 184 days a year in the two years following the PR, you can successfully apply for IRRV。Getting the IRRV means you can now expect to be in New Zealand without limit, and will always have the right to enter New Zealand at any time, regardless of how long you are away from New Zealand。IRRV is a permanent green card in the true sense, as long as there is no major crime, your permanent resident status will not be revoked no matter what。IRRV is a special feature of New Zealand among many immigrant countries, and New Zealand is the only country in the world to offer this permanent green card。The benefits of IRRV status are the same as those of Citizen, and there are no restrictions。

You hold a New Zealand passport and are of New Zealand nationality. There is no difference between you and a native foreigner in New Zealand except for the color of your skin。The main time requirements for applying for Citizen are: after receiving the New Zealand PR, you must have lived in New Zealand for a total of 1,350 days in the last five years, calculated forward from the date of application.Spend at least 240 days in New Zealand in each of these five years。
